Dear District 54 Community,
Effective communication is a cornerstone of student success, and in District 54, we are committed to fostering strong partnerships between our schools and families.
District 54 uses a variety of methods to communicate with our community. We hope this guide helps you to familiarize yourself with those communication tools.
ParentSquare Rapid Communications System
District 54 uses a platform called ParentSquare to communicate with our families in a variety of ways. Principals use ParentSquare to email weekly newsletters, and to send alerts through phone calls and text messages for priority communications. The district will use ParentSquare to call, text and email parents/guardians with informational and emergency updates. Some District 54 teachers and other staff are also using ParentSquare for classroom and club/sports communications.
All families and staff will receive calls, texts and emails whether or not you create a ParentSquare account. However, by creating an account you will be able to change your notification preferences, interact with requests, change your language preferences and see all of the messages previously sent to you, as well as staff directories and other information.
To create a ParentSquare account, visit parentsquare.com/signin and use the email or cell phone number you provided to your school to log in. ParentSquare also has a free app available on the Apple Store for iPhones or the Google Play Store for Androids.
After logging in, click your name at the top, and then select My Account to review your contact information. If any details need updating, please contact your child’s school.
Infinite Campus Portal
The parent portal provides online access to student grades, report cards, assignments, immunizations, test scores, demographic information and more. If you don’t have a portal account, please contact your child’s school to obtain log-in information.
Social Media
District 54, our 28 schools and many staff members have accounts on social media, which you can follow to get a glimpse of the many amazing things happening in our schools each day. To follow the district accounts, visit

District 54 Visions Newsletter
Families receive this emailed newsletter after every School Board meeting. We share highlights from the meeting, upcoming events, important news and celebrations.
District 54 Website — sd54.org
Our sd54.org website serves as a central hub for our families, providing the latest news, the district calendar, updates from School Board meetings, and various resources. It also offers convenient links to the individual websites for our 28 schools and the D54 Education Foundation. Our website also hosts a Virtual Backpack, where community organizations can share flyers.
Connecting With Us
In addition to communicating with you, we love hearing from you. For celebrations or concerns, your child’s teacher or principal is the best first point of contact, as they are most familiar with your child and can offer tailored support.
On our District 54 websites, we have staff directories so you can find the contact information for all staff, as well as our board members. If you’re unsure who to contact, you can email us at [email protected]. Our website also has an anonymous online bullying and safety reporting feature at sd54.org/safetyreporting.
In District 54, we value our connections with our students’ families as we share the same goal of doing what’s best for the children.
