Greetings Mead Community,

 

We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable fall break. It is hard to believe we are already in December, although it definitely looks and feels like it!

 

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our recent parent-teacher conferences, solidifying the strong partnership between home and school. Thank you for your continued commitment to showing what it means to be We Are One at Mead.

 

Our students have jumped right back into being at school by showing impressive dedication as they work hard in all of their classes and on the recent MAP assessment. They are also keeping busy with a wide variety of clubs and sports, enhancing their experience beyond the classroom.

 

Join us this upcoming Monday night for our McTeacher Night fundraiser. Mead staff will be there from 3-7pm and 20% of the proceeds will go back to our Mead PTA. Please be sure to show the flyer below when you make an order and bring cash for our cookie donation! If you place a mobile order or order at the kiosk in store, be sure to ask an employee for a duplicate receipt in order for your purchase to go towards our event.

 

Also, a friendly reminder that treat day orders for December and January are due TODAY! See details below.

The registration process is now open for Wrestling & Girls Volleyball. Registration and concussion protocols now should be completed online through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. 

 

HERE are step by step procedures for families to outline the registration process for winter sports through Infinite Campus. Please complete ALL steps in order to finalize the registration process for either sport.

Wrestling registration is already open!

 

Both Wrestling and Girls Volleyball seasons will begin on Monday, January 5th. All students planning to participate in winter sports must have a current physical on file with the school nurse. Please note that physical examinations are good for 1 year from the date of the exam. If you have any additional questions about your child’s physical, please contact our school nurse at 847-357-6016.

There will be no after school activities or late busses on Friday, December 19th. All students will be dismissed at 2:15pm.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, January 21st for Mead‘s inaugural Family BINGO Night! Join us in the Mead gym to play BINGO and win some fabulous prizes. More details to come!

Treat Day signup for December & January closes TODAY for anyone who might have missed the initial signup window. Payment must be submitted to the office by Monday, Dec 8. You may sign up for any/all upcoming Treat Days now, but for your convenience, the PTA will also provide additional enrollment opportunities throughout the year. 

Our programs run better with your help! We are looking for volunteers to distribute food for upcoming Hot Lunch and Treat Days. Check out the links below and sign up today!

Everyone belongs in the Mead Jr. High PTA! Joining is easy- membership is $7 and can be purchased using the link below. 170 people have joined to-date, and we’d love to get to 200 members! 

Each year, the Department of Language and Culture, along with the Schaumburg Park District, presents a Multicultural Event that showcases the diversity represented by the students of District 54. We are looking for groups and individual students who are interested in performing at this year’s event on Saturday, March 7th 2026! If you are interested in applying, please complete the application by Thursday, December 11th.
