Greetings Mead Community,

Don’t stall, Mustangs! The Silent Auction for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital races to the finish TODAY at 2PM—get your bids in before the bell! Use the links below to bid in the silent auction or donate to our fundraising goal. TODAY IS THE LAST DAY! Thank you for all of your support the last few weeks.

It’s been another busy week at Mead! Our students have been locked in to their reading MAP test. We are proud of their dedication and determination in meeting their goals. Next week, they will demonstrate all that they have learned in math this year as they take the math MAP Monday-Wednesday in math class.

In additional to MAP testing, our students have been showcasing their hard work from the year in a variety of events. Our mustangs have been shining at the District 54 Spanish Speech contest, STEAM showcase, at their music concerts, and on the court/field. We are so proud of how hard our students are continuing to work both in and out of the classroom. Thank you your continued support at all of our events!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,

School News

Nee Dohs and Fidgets

This year, many students have been bringing Nee Dohs and similar toys into the classrooms and playing with them during instructional time. This has become a consistent classroom distraction.  Additionally, these fidgets can break, creating large messes that interrupt lessons and require significant cleanup.  We ask that you not have your student bring Nee Dohs or fidgets to school unless they have a documented need.

Drinks at School

As a reminder, our school policy is that students are allowed to bring a refillable water bottle to school. We are noticing an uptick of students bringing beverages not in a refillable water bottle.  This includes energy drinks and drinks from local businesses (Starbucks, Dunkin, etc.)  If students are bringing these beverages to school they will be asked to either keep them down in the office for the day or dispose of them.

Spirit Week

A weekly event calendar displays themed dress-up days from Monday to Friday, May 4th-8th.

No Late Busses 5/8

There will be no late busses on 5/8. No after school activities will be held this day.

Personal Assessment of Core Competency (PACC)

In District 54, we are dedicated to supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of every student. Your perspective as a parent or guardian plays a vital role in helping us build a complete understanding of your student’s strengths and areas for growth. To gather your valuable input, families of students in grades K–8 received an email on April 13 containing a unique link to complete the District 54 Personal Assessment of Core Competency for your children. The survey will be open through today, Friday, May 1. We sincerely appreciate your participation, as strong collaboration between home and school is essential in supporting your student’s overall well-being.
