🌿🦋 The Prairie Partners celebrated the final session of their club at Campanelli Elementary School by planting a brand-new native Illinois prairie alongside the Campanelli Garden Club! 🌼🌱
This incredible collaboration brought together students and staff from both schools, along with support from the Schaumburg Community Garden Club, to create a thriving butterfly and wildlife habitat right here in our community. 🐝🐦🦋
This project has been an ongoing effort throughout the school year, and we are so thankful to the Schaumburg Garden Club for generously donating all of the plants for this beautiful new butterfly garden. 💚
Why are native Illinois plants so important? 🌾
✨ Native plants provide food and shelter for local birds, butterflies, bees, and other pollinators.
✨ They require less water and maintenance because they naturally thrive in Illinois soil and weather.
✨ Deep prairie roots help prevent erosion and improve soil health.
✨ Native prairies support biodiversity and help restore habitats that have disappeared over time.
By coming together as a community, students were able to make a lasting impact while learning about conservation, mentorship, stewardship, and the importance of protecting local ecosystems. 🌎💛
Special thanks to school board member Mrs. Prusnick for joining us on planting day, along with administrators from both schools, for supporting this meaningful project! 👏🌻
