Greetings Mead Community,

This week we hosted our Special Olympics Unified Banner celebration and it was truly a moment to remember! Looking out into a sea of green, it was inspiring to see all of our Mustangs proudly wearing their We Are One t-shirts—thank you to our amazing PTA for making that possible. The energy in the gym was incredible, from the excitement of the cheer and poms teams to the beautiful performance of the National Anthem by our choir. One of the highlights of the assembly was hearing both current and former members of Club Unify share heartfelt words about what inclusion and unity mean to them. It was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our community and the power of coming together as one.

We look forward to wrapping up trimester 1 with tonight’s Fall Ball. As we begin a new trimester next week, we are filled with excitement and optimism for what’s ahead. Trimester 2 will bring fresh opportunities for growth, learning, and connection.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,

Tricia Leong- Principal
Alex Csuk- Assistant Principal

Conferences

We are pleased to announce the upcoming Student-Led Conferences scheduled for November 24 and 25 at Mead. Historically, our previous conference structure facilitated connections with fewer than 30% of our students’ families. To address this, we have restructured our approach to enhance connectivity through an open concept format across all junior high schools in District 54.

We request that the majority of our families register for the open format conference, which will afford them the opportunity to engage with all their child’s teachers in a centralized location. Families will be allocated a 40-45 minute window, providing them the flexibility to navigate the space and connect with their child’s educators.

In the infrequent circumstance that a family desires an individual conference with only one of their child’s teachers, a limited number of brief virtual (Zoom) or 1-on-1 in-person appointments will be made available on Monday early afternoon or Tuesday morning.

Below is the schedule we will follow:

Monday, November 24th
  • 1-on-1 Virtual (Zoom) Conferences from 11:30-1:00pm
  • Due to limited availability, please sign up for only one teacher appointment for this option.
  • Open Format Conferences (In-person) from 1:30-4:30pm OR 5:00-7:30pm
  • Teachers will be available to check in with parents regarding your child’s academic/behavior progress in 40-45-minute windows of time
  • Parents will receive two emails from principals to sign up for the Open Format afternoon or evening session. Please sign up for one time slot.

Tuesday, November 25th
  • 1-on1 In-Person Conferences from 7:30-9:00am
  • Due to limited availability, please sign up for only one teacher appointment for this option.

Sign up for Open Format conferences will begin on Monday, November 10th through Parent Square messages sent from Mrs. Leong.
Sign up for 1-on-1 Zoom/1-on1 In-Person conferences will begin on Wednesday, November 12th through Parent Square messages sent from each of your child’s teachers.

Please note that our upcoming conferences are focused on discussing your child’s progress and growth at Mead. While we know high school placement is on the mind of many families, those conversations can be directed to the high school at a later date.
